Virtual Services

Support for you, wherever you are

Online therapy, sometimes called virtual care, telehealth, or telepsychology is similar to in-person therapy sessions, but through a secure video conferencing platform instead. When you participate in online therapy you can access the same type of treatment and support as in person sessions from the comfort of your home or wherever you are in Nova Scotia.

Therapy that fits around you

Individual therapy sessions are offered virtually via private and secure telemedicine platform. Telepsychology sessions can be more comfortable for some people and a useful way to access treatment for most types of mental health struggles. If you want to explore whether online treatment could be clinically useful for you, please reach out.

Sessions typically last for 50 minutes with 10 minutes of session report writing.

Policies

Psychological Services provided by a Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice are not currently covered by Nova Scotia’s provincial MSI, however are often covered through medical benefits plans. If seeking reimbursement of session fees from your insurance provider, it is important to call and ask how much they will provide reimbursement for psychological services in a given year or per session.

Cancellation Policy:

Appointment times are booked and held exclusively for your session, but if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment you must provide at least 24 hours notice, without such notice a full session rate will be applied. Providing more than 24 hours notice allows for others to be offered the session time or to be given an earlier appointment.

Please note: Online therapy is not a 24 hour crisis service. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis and requires immediate support please call the 24 Hour Nova Scotia Mental Health Crisis line at 1-888-429-8167, visit your nearest emergency department or call 911.
